New Financial Support Package for SA Tourism Businesses

The Commonwealth and South Australian Governments have announced a new jointly-funded package to provide further financial support for small and medium tourism and hospitality businesses impacted by ongoing trading restrictions and border closures.

Tourism and Hospitality Support Grant

Businesses in eligible tourism and hospitality sectors that have already received the COVID-19 Additional Business Support Grant will be paid top-up grants of $3,000 for employing businesses and $1,000 for non-employing businesses. No additional application is necessary.

Businesses in the tourism and hospitality sector with a turnover of greater than $2 million and $5 million will also be eligible for a further grant of $7,000 and $17,000 respectively (taking the total value to $10,000 and $20,000). These businesses will need to apply separately and provide the required supporting evidence to receive the additional payment.

Business Hardship Grant

Introduced to provide assistance to small and medium businesses that have been significantly impacted by COVID-19 restrictions but haven’t been eligible for previous business grant support since July 2021.

Grants of $6,000 for employing businesses and $2,000 for non-employing businesses will be available for eligible businesses that have experienced a 50 per cent reduction in turnover. Businesses select a relevant two week period between 20 July 2021 (beginning of lockdown) and 31 August 2021 where they experienced a 50 per cent reduction in turnover when compared to a relevant two week benchmark period in 2019 or 2021.
