Business Victor Harbor’s board comprises volunteers from the local business community who are elected at the annual general meeting.
Business Victor Harbor, and our Board of Directors, are members of the Institute of Community Directors Australia.
ICDA is the best-practice governance network for the directors serving on Australia’s 600,000 not-for-profit boards, committees and councils, and the senior staff who support them. ICDA members get access to a range of educational, capacity building and networking opportunities that build knowledge, connections and credentials.

Chairperson – Michael Schubert
Michael spent 15 years building his career in marketing, learning & development and sales before becoming a small business owner. Ambitious from an early age, his professional journey saw him holding corporate positions in Australia and the UK, for companies including Healthcare International, Kleenmaid, Optus and Westpac Insurance.
After spending many years away from home, Michael returned to his home state of South Australia to take on the new challenge of supporting his parents’ Shed Boss franchise. He took over as Sole Director in 2016, growing the business to a team of 20 people and doubling turnover between 2020 and 2022. An entrepreneurially-minded business owner with a focus on people over brand, Michael achieved success with the help of a communication-first approach and a focus on customer service.
During COVID, Michael could not ignore the pressures being faced by his local business community in Victor Harbor. Appointed Chairman of Business Victor Harbor shortly before the pandemic hit, he focused his efforts throughout 2020 and 2021 on helping local businesses and leveraging the opportunities it presented. As a result of his efforts, Victor Harbor is evolving from a sleepy town to a thriving regional destination with cross-generational appeal.
Proactive, hands-on and forward-thinking, Michael is always seeking new ways to help transform the financial health of small to medium-sized businesses in regional South Australia. This includes attending leadership development programs such as Fleurieu Future Leaders, which is focused on building the next generation of leaders in the community.
Amongst Michael’s achievements as Chairman of Business Victor Harbor is the formation of alliances with Business SA, the Restaurant & Catering Association, and Master Builders. By creating strong networks and collaborating with other organisations, he has been able to improve support for an ever-increasing number of local businesses.

Deputy Chairperson – Kirsten Pitman
Kirsten is currently the Deputy Chairperson of Business Victor Harbor and has been a member of the board since 2020.
Kirsten has successfully owned and operated Nino’s of Victor Harbor for 20 years, alongside her husband Simon. Nino’s is a multi-award winning family restaurant located in the heart of the main street precinct which has developed into one of the best casual dining experiences on the Fleurieu, serving well over 18,000 customers per year.
She is also the owner and operator of award-winning Mexican restaurant Loco’s Victor Harbor. She balances the operation of both restaurants, alongside her role as mother to three beautiful children.
Treasurer & Board Member, Tom Cosentino
Holding degrees in Law and Commerce, Toms’ business Margo Consulting works in agribusiness advisory and project management He is currently engaged as a consultant by the Southern rock lobster, strawberry and livestock industries, predominantly in research fund management and advisory roles.
Tom was admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia as a barrister and solicitor in 2016 and prior to project management he worked as a business advisory, tax and insolvency accountant at PKF Australia. Tom tutors in small business and management at the University of Adelaide and owns and operates a 120 acre cattle farm on the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Secretary & Board Member, Tim Donlan
Tim Donlan is the principal solicitor of the law firm Donlan Lawyers. He opened the Victor Harbor office of the firm in 2020 following his family’s move from Adelaide to Port Elliott.
He specialises in estate planning and business structuring and also advising small and family businesses about succession and governance.
In a former life he was an aircraft technician in the Royal Australian Air Force and now also part owns and runs a security and software develop company.
He has been involved with many and various not for profit boards and organisations.
Board Member, Richard Foggo
Richard is the owner of Richard Foggo for Finance and a former member of the Executive Management Team of Bank SA. As a regional manager, he had a direct reporting accountability to the Managing Director and Board. In his role he was directly responsible for some 50 bank branches and 275 staff members.
Richard is highly respected within the local community for providing independent financial services. He is on the Board of the Victor Harbor RSL and for many years has held board positions including President for various community and sporting groups. Richard is a Justice of the Peace, is heavily involved with sporting and community clubs and currently sits on the RSL Board.
Board Member, Stuart Riddell
Stuart is the General Manager of McCracken Country Club, and a hospitality professional with over 20 years’ experience. Originally from Scotland and having managed hospitality venues around the world including Palm Beach (Florida), Dubai & Sydney, Stuart and his young family have settled in McCracken after relocating from Glenelg in 2018. Having studied Hospitality and Mathematics degrees, the hospitality field prevailed due to excelling in people & conflict management, along with a drive to provide a quality experience to both guests and team members.
Board Member, Craig Cooper
Craig has been a member of the board of Business Victor Harbor since 2020.
He is the principal of LIVING WELL – Business Transformation, Leadership and Life Coaching
He has lived on the Fleurieu Peninsula his whole life, is passionate about surfing and is a member of a local surf lifesaving club.
Craig facilitates Wellness Retreats on the South Coast, as well as Men’s Wellbeing and Leadership Coaching for a range of clients across our communities.
Craig has 21 years’ experience working in local government, as well as five years’ experience running his own business.
He is also a Life-Member of Surf Lifesaving SA and a Business SA member and has Professional membership of International Coaching Federation.
Board Member, Gavin Daniell
Gavin is married to wife Natalija, and has 3 Wonderful boys, Zachary, Adam and Jordan.
Having lived and worked in Victor for over 20 years, Gavin has worked for McDonald’s for 42 years
After purchasing the Victor Harbor Restaurant in 2001, Gavin then built and opened the Aldinga Beach Restaurant in Dec 2010 and currently employs 178 full-time and casual locals, ranging in age from 14 to 58.
Gavin currently sits on 3 different boards holding, office in 2 of them: Ronald McDonald House Adelaide Board (a charity very close to his heart) and the MAFIP Board (the National McDonald’s Insurance Board for Australia and New Zealand as well as a being on the Board of Investigator College.
With very strong ties to the community, Gavin is involved in many local Sporting Clubs, (All sports), Service clubs (Rotary, Lions) and has worked closely with the City of Victor Harbor on a number of community events over the years, which include Whale Time Play Time Festival, RnR Festival, Whale Centre, Trams and Cockle Train, Car Clubs and Scouting groups. Community is very important to Gavin and Natalija and they try to assist whenever and wherever they can.
Board Member Mark McLaren
Mark McLaren is no stranger to the Fleurieu Peninsula, having grown up on a dairy farm at Myponga and settled in Mount Compass in 2001.
Mark has 27 years’ of accounting and management experience across the areas of State Government, energy, education, health, primary production and sports administration.
Mark is currently Business Manager at Investigator College, a role that he has held since March 2020 (the outbreak of COVID).
Mark has contributed to his local communities as treasurer and auditor for numerous local organisations, including the Great Southern Netball Association as auditor for 25 years.
Board Member, Travis Bates
Travis is the nbn Co Community Engagement Manager for SE South Australia, having commenced the role in November 2020. Prior to this he spent a decade working in Community and Economic Development, Property Management, Community Relations, CSR and Cultural heritage roles for Rio Tinto and Yancoal in Queensland and NSW. He also established, operated and sold a manufacturing business on the Eyre Peninsula and then spent 3 years working in Energy Policy in the Queensland Government (before switch to Rio).
Travis loves working in the economic development space, particularly at the start-up / entrepreneur level, having ran programs on the East Coast and Norfolk Island. He holds a Science degree with Honours in Sustainable Energy Management and post-graduate qualifications in Business Administration.
Travis resides in Middleton with his wife and three kids and spends most of his spare time in the waters off of Boettcher Road.
Board Member, Deani Edwards
De-Ani is the owner of SOMA Health & Beauty, a peaceful professional home based salon in McCracken, as well as owning an organic skincare range – Land of Lilly Natural Skincare.
De-Ani has 9 years experience in the beauty industry having worked in some of Adelaide’s most reputable salons, including Endota and Janesce. She also boasts over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, working locally and abroad.
Being a true local, born in Victor Harbor, she has a passion for the local community and making people feel beautiful.
Board Member, Derek McIlroy
Derek McIlroy is currently a Director of D&K McIlroy Nominees, a property investment company and a Management Consultant to Op2ma Pty Ltd, a South Australian based company specialising in digital solutions, consulting and consumer engagement for various automotive industry clients.
He is an experienced Australian motor industry executive of over two decades and has worked with Mitsubishi Motors Australia, General Motors Holden and as the proprietor and dealer principal of the former McIlroy Auto Group (now known as Northpoint Fleurieu) in Victor Harbor, South Australia.
Derek is a leader in operations and marketing and a qualified Chartered Accountant, and also holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from the University of New South Wales.
Member Services, Julie Irwin
As a resident of Victor Harbor for 38 years, Julie is proudly a past President of Rotary Victor Harbor, and is an active community member involved with numerous sporting and community organisations, whilst also being a Board member of the Victor Harbor Private Hospital.
Julie is a mother of 2 grown professional daughters, who grew up and were educated at Port Elliot Primary and Victor Harbor High School, and has also been married to husband Mark for 40 years.
Working full time across various industries, Julie provides Admin Support through her businesses, Encounter Business Management and Hamper Warehouse.
