Roadmap to Workplace Wellbeing: A Must-Attend Breakfast Forum for Fleurieu Businesses

Mar 6 / Michael Schubert
Business Victor Harbor (BVH) is proud to present “A Roadmap to Workplace Wellbeing”, an engaging breakfast forum at the Roos Football Club in Victor Harbor on Friday 17th March. This event will provide valuable resources and information on how to create a safe, mentally healthy workplace.

BVH Chair Michael Schubert states that “Mental health conditions in the workplace can have a huge impact on productivity, with a 500% return on every dollar spent supporting mental health conditions. That translates to a $2.50 return on every dollar invested – making it one of the most cost-effective investments any business can make”.

The forum will be facilitated by experts from ReturnToWorkSA, Beyond Blue; SafeWorkSA; Healthy Workplaces Service; Department Industry, Innovation and Science, Workplace Wellbeing and SA’s Attorney General and will cover “the what and why of workplace wellbeing”. It is designed as a roadmap for businesses, helping them navigate their way toward creating a safe and thriving workplace where employees feel supported and respected.

With 4,500 businesses in the Fleurieu region and ever-changing workplace regulations to stay informed of, business owners have a lot on their plate. According to Colin Shearing, Executive Officer Business Victor Harbor: “It’s essential for these companies—from small startups all the way up to large enterprises–to demonstrate improvement in physical safety conditions and psychological working practices or risk financial penalties from the law.”

“Not only does this prevent potential losses but it also supports healthier workplaces that benefit everyone involved – employees included” said Colin Shearing.

“RTWSA will join the ranks as Gold Sponsor for this inaugural event in a series of high-profile Workplace Planning engagements throughout 2023. A star lineup consisting of Mardi Webber, RTWSA; Andy Dennis, Beyond Blue; Paul Findlay, SafeWorkSA; Kylie Cocks, Healthy Workplaces SA; South Australia’s Attorney General; and Rebecca Weatherill, Workplace Wellbeing, promises to offer attendees informative insights into creating workplace wellbeing through ‘A Roadmap To Wellbeing’ – with meaningful takeaways and practical resources sure to give great value!” Colin added.

With 9 in 10 Australian workers believing that having a mentally healthy workplace is important, this workshop could not come at a better time. Participants will gain key insights into improving morale and performance through effective strategies such as communication training and conflict resolution techniques. They will also learn about legislation that applies to mental health in the workplace, including anti-discrimination laws and ways to reduce stress levels among employees.
