Michael Shuman is a highly accomplished economist, attorney, author, and entrepreneur, widely recognised as a visionary in the field of community economics. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, Michael has become a leading voice in the conversation around local economies and the role they play in driving sustainable growth and prosperity.

As the Director of Local Economy Programs for Neighbourhood Associates Corporation, Michael is at the forefront of the movement to build stronger, more resilient local economies. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Bard Business School in New York City, where he shares his insights and expertise with the next generation of business leaders.

Michael has authored, co-authored, or edited an impressive ten books, including his three most recent works, “Put Your Money Where Your Life Is: How to Invest Locally Using Solo 401ks and Self-Directed IRAs”, “The Local Economy Solution: How Innovative, Self-Financing Pollinator Enterprises Can Grow Jobs and Prosperity”, and “Local Dollars, Local Sense: How to Shift Your Money from Wall Street to Main Street”. His previous book, “The Small Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition,” even received a bronze prize from the Independent Publishers Association for best business book of 2006.
