Granite Island Causeway Project Notification of Investigative Works

Feb 25 / Helen Sampson

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (the Department) is advising that investigation works for the Granite Island Causeway Project will be undertaken from Thursday, 25 February 2021.

These works are required to better understand the existing conditions of the site and will take place between the foreshore and beachline (on Victor Harbor land side) leading to the Causeway and will include:

Underground service location works.

Geotechnical investigations.

Flora and fauna surveys.

Site fencing installation and mobilisation of construction machinery.

Crane pad construction for undertaking test pile(s) to test noise and vibration, and verify pile design.

Works will occur intermittently over the coming weeks.

The locations have been carefully chosen to minimise disruption to the community and for the best overall understanding of local conditions.

Investigation works will generally occur during the daytime between the hours of 7am and 7pm, Monday to Saturday.

Some noise can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to nearby residents and businesses, as much as practically possible. The boat ramp will not be accessible to the public from 6am, Monday, 1 March 2021 until further notice.

Visit www.victor.sa.gov.au/boatramps for more information about alternative boat ramps in the area.

The Department appreciates your patience and understanding while these important investigation works are undertaken.

Members of the public are encouraged to register their details with the project mailing list to receive project updates and information as it becomes available.
