Victor Harbor businesses are being asked to complete an online survey to assist the Council and Business Victor Harbor tailor services and programs that support and grow local businesses.
Over the past two years the business environment has changed. Local businesses have been faced with a new set of challenges to navigate and opportunities to harness. The survey aims to provide the Council and Business Victor Harbor with a greater insight from those at the coalface to help design meaningful business support initiatives.
The first business survey was conducted in 2016 with the annual results reviewed and analysed to understand the changing trends in the local business environment.
A standard set of questions are asked of businesses each year while a series of unique questions are introduced on topics that are of interest or relevant to projects that are planned. In 2021 the unique questions will relate to challenges with the recruitment and training of staff as well as sentiment and opportunities relating to local investment. The latter will support the design of a new Investment Attraction Strategy for Victor Harbor.

“The local intelligence that we gain from the annual business survey is critical in ensuring that the Council are making informed decisions about how we support our local businesses,” said City of Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins.
“We understand that vibrant and prosperous businesses are critical to ensure the creation of local employment and economic opportunities for our community.”
The results from the annual business surveys have been used by the Council and Business Victor Harbor to influence and inform conversations with government and non-government organisations over recent years to leverage support of projects that grow the local economy.
Business Victor Harbor Chair Michael Schubert endorsed the comments of the Mayor.
“It is critical that community decision-makers are informed about the challenges and opportunities that face our businesses so that the appropriate allocation of resources can be made,” said Mr Schubert.
“Business Victor Harbor encourages all local businesses to allocate five minutes of their day to complete the survey as the information is really valuable and will enable us to advocate on behalf of the business community.”
The business surveys will be completely anonymous with no mandatory requirements for businesses to identify themselves. To spark interest amongst business leaders Business Victor Harbor have sponsored an iPad Mini as a prize for participating businesses.
