Business Victor Harbor’s successful Stage 1 LEAP program supported 5 Fleurieu regional businesses to identify and implement better practices in sustainability and circular economy. Over the next 10 months, Green Industries SA is continuing to fund Stage 2 of the LEAP program- a collaborative sustainability project, managed by Business Victor Harbor (chamber of commerce) to deliver a specialised mentoring and coaching program focused on food waste reduction and better practice methodologies in food waste management for 3 regional based businesses from across the Greater Fleurieu.

“The region’s business community takes plate-waste and food spoilage seriously and is seeking best practice strategies to reduce the amount of food wasted and the amount of food ending up in kerbside waste. “

“This project forms part of BVH’s 2024-2027 Strategic Plan and will lead to increasing the business community’s better understanding of ‘going circular’ as there appears to be a varied local business operator response in regards to food waste management and the local economic impacts.”

Congratulations to the following 3 food related businesses which have been selected from broad cohort of applications: Cooinda Retreats Baker’s Delight, Victor Harbor McCracken Country Club

“The 3 regional businesses with the trial will have the opportunity to share results, promote and demonstrate initiatives, plus provide take-aways that can be implemented and/or adapted by the broader Fleurieu regional business paddock-to-plate community”
